Allyson Felix is a seven-time Olympic gold medalist, three-time silver medalist, and one-time bronze medalist. In 2022, at the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon, she retired after helping the USA team win bronze in the mixed 4x400m relay and securing her 14th gold medal in the 4x400m relay, surpassing Usain Bolt.

Reflecting on her second pregnancy, Felix wrote on Instagram in April 2024 after the birth of her baby:

"This journey!! After the traumatic and life-threatening delivery I had with Cammy due to severe pre-eclampsia, the most important thing I wanted from this birth was for my son and I to survive. I'm so grateful to God that we did!"

Reflecting on the emotional toll of her pregnancy, she shared her feelings in an interview earlier this year.

In May 2024, Allyson Felix shared her experience with pre-eclampsia and the importance of raising awareness about maternal health, particularly the challenges faced by women of color. She highlighted the risks associated with pre-eclampsia, a condition she experienced during pregnancy.

The Olympic champion detailed how the condition impacted her health, including the emotional toll of leaving the hospital without her baby and the anxiety surrounding her own health and her baby's.

In an interview with March of Dimes, she recalled her journey:

"We knew that we wanted another child. We knew that we wanted Cameron to have a sibling, we knew the risks. We knew that I had pre-eclampsia before; I could very likely have it again, and I think we understood of what that meant. It's scary; I want to be here to raise my children, I want to see my family grow this time around."

Felix recalled how, despite feeling strong and healthy throughout most of her pregnancy, she was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia at 32 weeks after a routine doctor's appointment. She was later rushed into an emergency C-section, and her daughter spent a month in the NICU.
